HISTORY OF THE Prefa Praha a.s.
At the turn of the 1950s and 1960s, a new factory was built in Prague area of Malešice named Prefa, starting with production of panels both in the Larsen-Nielsen system and especially in the Czech System VVÚ-ETA, inspired also by Western European production. A significant part of the „so called „New Prague“ Quarter – particularly housing estate of Prosek, Jižní Město (South Town), Bohnice, Červený vrch and others had been built by using Prefa panels.
Traditional, well-established company was privatized after November 1989 and bought by the German company HebergerBau in the mid-1990s. At this timea new contruction technique was brought to PREFA PRAHA a. s. corresponding to the current trend of industrial and large capacity sale halls constructions. In relation to the newly introduced concept a pre-stressed elements programme has been introduced which had not been used in Malešice so far.
In June 1996, after a joint audit of two certification Authorities – VUPS (Research Institute of Building Construction Prague) and LGA Landesgewerbeanstalt Nürnberg , PREFA PRAHA a. s. obtained certificates confirming Implementation of Quality Control System according to Czech and German standards complying with ISO 9002. Both of these Quality Certificates together have applied not only within the Czech Republic but also within EU countries.
